CAM Y'all

July 2007

July has always been my favorite month and this July looks like a good one.

Annual Gathering
By the time you read this article, I hope that you are either on the way to, or already in, Birmingham, AL enjoying the Give Me That Old Time Ag'n 2007 AG, July 4-8.  Now, in Birmingham-speak, you could be fixin' to leave for Birmingham.  Then again, you might have already returned before you read you Mencinnatian.

Birmingham is my home town.  I attended the last Birmingham AG and thoroughly enjoyed it.  At that prior Birmingham AG, CAM was preparing to host the AG the following year.  A CAM contingent treated the Birmingham attendees to Skyline Chili and Grater's ice cream.  The Birmingham AG committee shared AG tips with Mary Lee Kemper and the rest of our AG committee.

I have been looking forward to the 2007 Birmingham AG for sometime now.  Unfortunately, I will be a late arrival due to a family wedding which, by coincidence, will also be held in Alabama, but it will be on the beach.  The wedding invitation said that ties are not allowed, that the bride and groom will be barefoot, and suggested that the guests come barefoot also.

Verale Phillips' 9th (?) Annual Pool Party and Grill Out
Verale's pool party and backyard grill out has been a regular CAM summer event for some time now.  It's always great fun.  The pool is available for those who are interested.  Thos who aren't can relax at poolside and schmooze.  This year the pool party will held on July 14th.  Verale lives in Devoe Park in Covington, KY.  He generally asks that you bring your own meat to grill and a dish to share.  Check the calendar for details and directions.

First Annual CAM Family Picnic
Unfortunately, I was out of town due to a family event (a recurring theme this year) and missed the First Annual CAM Family Picnic, but I have heard great things about it.  There was a good turnout and it sounds like everyone had a fantastic time.  Thanks to Misty Richmond for all the hard work organizing the picnic and thanks to Barry Austern for reserving the shelter.  There seems to be a consensus that the Blue Ash Recreation Center was an excellent site and that it is recommended for next year.  If you disagree, speak up now!
