Here it is: the highlight of the year in Cincinnati Area Mensa - our Regional Gathering.  This issue is filled with details about the RG.  If you have never been to an RG before, this is your chance to check it out.  People come from all over the Midwest; people come from various points in the US, people come from Canada, and occasionally we get some from Europe.  If you live right here, you have to come check it out.

Your registration fee includes all the food for the weekend: home cooked meals for Friday and Saturday night dinner and Saturday lunch; continental breakfast Saturday with boiled eggs and fruit on Saturday and Sunday.  As a special treat this year, we will also have pancakes Saturday morning.  Snacks will be available the entire weekend including homemade cookies and there is Death by Dessert Saturday night

The programs sound fantastic.  Check out the program details elsewhere in this issue.  The games room will be open the entire weekend and enough tournaments are scheduled to keep the most dedicated gamer busy.  Don't forget the dance Saturday night.  We haven't scheduled sleep.  You can always sleep Sunday night or at work on Monday.

While you are having all this fun, remember that RGs aren't on auto-pilot.  It takes a lot of effort so do your part to help everyone have a good time.  Working with Mensans is fun, too.

  1. If you don't have to work on Thursday before the RG, come help us pack all the food and equipment into the hotel and help with the set up.
  2. Come to the hotel Thursday night for slice and dice to get the veggies ready.
  3. Make some new friends.
  4. Be courteous to others - especially to speakers, guests, and new Mensans.
  5. Clean up after yourself.
  6. Handle the games and other equipment carefully.
  7. Pitch in to help with dishes, trash pickup, meal prep, or anything else that needs to be done.
  8. Pre-register for next year or mark it on your calendar so you won't forget to register later.
  9. Eat some of the leftovers after the awards ceremony.
  10. Help clean things up, pack things up, and load everything in the truck Sunday afternoon.  We know you are tired - so is everyone else.
  11. Thank the RG committee and all the other volunteers.
