Hmmm...

January 2006

Happy Holidays, everyone!  This has been a VERY busy month for me, and for CAM.  The RG went very well - over 160 folks decided to spend the first weekend in December with us and from all accounts, they had a great time!  The final financial statement will not be submitted until January, but it appears to have been a very successful RG from that perspective as well.  Many thanks to all of you who worked hard to make that happen, from the RG Committee members to the folks who just showed up and helped.  It could not have been done without all of you.  And an additional thanks to the folks who chose to join us for the party - you are the reason that we keep doing this.  On the behalf of CAM and our Scholarship Fund, THANK YOU!

I am fresh from the December Ex Comm meeting (a few hours ago actually) and am pleased to tell you that I will once again be serving as your Local Secretary.  John Schneder also continues as Provisional Loc Sec as does Paulette Wilson as Treasurer.  Mary Lee Kemper has officially joined us for the 2006 Executive Committee and, rather than bidding farewell to Tim Link, we have come up with a few things to keep him busy with CAM business for just a little while longer ;-)  I know that all of us on Ex Comm (Rob McDonough, Bob Charlton and Deb Brown rounding out the group) will strive to serve all of YOU, and to continue in what we believe is a positive direction for all of CAM.  Of course, your input is always welcome.

Speaking of input, perhaps you would like to have a bit more input for CAM in the coming year - perhaps you have great ideas for fun things that you would like to do with Mensans or you feel an urge to put some of your skills to use for the betterment of CAM.  Now is the time to act on these impulses!  As you may know, CAM Officer Appointments last for one year and are renewed each January.  These positions are listed on the inside back cover of the Mencinnatian.  There are a few open positions available and there is always room for more help, so if you have even thought about it, why not contact someone on Ex Comm to see how you could help?  You may discover how much fun it can be!

There are some other fun things on the horizon as well - in addition to the regularly scheduled monthly events (like Games Night, Chili Night for January MG, Ethnic Dining, Nature Walks, Gen-X events - wow, there sure is a lot to do!).  At any rate, Culture Quest is approaching and CAM has a long history of doing very well in this competition.  Last year we had three teams compete and we would love to see that level of participation once again this year.  If you are not familiar, Culture Quest is a trivia competition with teams from Mensa groups across the US.  It is being held April 30 this year.  If this sounds interesting to you, please contact John Schneder.  Teams must be registered well ahead of the event.  We would also like to see a Youth Team this year - please contact Rob McDonough if you are interested in that (and note that only the Team Captain need be a member of Mensa for the Youth Team).

Well, I think that is enough for now.  May all of you have a safe and enjoyable Holiday Season.  Good Luck with those New Year's resolutions - I know that I have been putting a good deal of thought into mine!  ;-)
