Candidate Statement:
I would like to run for office in Mensa because I believe in giving back where I can, and I believe I can do it very well. In order to be successful, you have to learn from the past to make the future better for all. One has to be willing and dependable to do the jobs that people don't want to do, like cleaning, heavy work, phone calls, etc.
I feel that it is important that our times together should be a steady source of positive experiences that dive into the rich diversity of our personal histories and our perspectives. Our times together should be sources of many fond memories. I also look ahead to Mensa's future and the role that well-prepared leaders can play. Over time, I have realized that members like me who care about the quality of the member experience must become more involved. In order to continue the traditions of our group, I want to have the opportunity to learn from leaders of diverse educational, professional and personal backgrounds.
My service roles in Mensa so far include Mencinnatian Calendar Editor for the past 18 months, member of Regional Gathering Committee for the past three years, and Captain of this year's Culture Quest team.
Getting involved in Mensa has indeed proven to be a wise decision. I have many new friends whom I would not otherwise have come to know. I thank Mensa for many great experiences that have turned into great memories. I look forward to serving as a leader who can continue with and build upon the best traditions that Mensa offers all its members.
