Candidate Statement:

I first joined Mensa back in 2003.  I'd moved away from my hometown of Cincinnati to the strange city of Orlando where I knew no one, and thought I needed to get involved in something as a way to meet new people.  Mensa was the answer to my search.  I jumped right in to the local group, and found like I'd finally "found my people" in this faraway town.

Upon my return to Cincinnati in 2004, I jumped right in to our local group, serving since then as GenX coordinator, RG Hospitality Chair, Membership, Welcoming & Recruiting Chair, and RG Volunteer Coordinator.  I've had some gaps in my service to Cincinnati Area Mensa as I’ve spent a few of the past few years living in Germany, but am back in Cincy since November, and more committed to our local group than ever.

Some of the best friends I have I've met through Mensa.  I feel like the organization has given me so much, and I want to give back to Mensa in return.  I see an active role in Cincinnati Mensa's ExCom as a great way to do this.

I am seeking a spot on CAM's ExCom as a way to help influence change in the local group.  While I feel like we do a great job of planning many activities to fill the calendar, I think there is still a large demographic of our local group that is not being reached.  We have many folks who come to one event and never show up again, even more who never show up to an event at all. (Maybe that's you?)  I want to make sure we continue to build upon our strong base, but plan more diverse activities to appeal to a larger percentage of our membership.

We need to keep the traditions of our local group, but also be open to the fact that the needs of the majority of our members are perhaps not being met.  I want to hear what you would like to see to make this *your* Mensa too.  I listen to consumers and develop solutions for their needs as my full time job.  I want to do that for this group too.
